Moosejaw Mountaineering, founded in 1992 by Robert Wolfe and David Jaffe, was a retailer focused on outdoor recreation apparel and gear. Headquartered in Madison Heights, Michigan, the company operated both online and through physical stores, reaching its peak with 12 locations primarily in the Midwest and Great Lakes region. Moosejaw offered a wide range of products from over 600 brands, catering to various outdoor activities such as climbing, hiking, camping, and snow sports. The company was recognized for its unique marketing style, known as "Moosejaw Madness," which resonated with younger audiences and promoted inclusivity in outdoor experiences. Moosejaw was acquired by Walmart in 2017 and later sold to Dick's Sporting Goods in 2023. The company ceased operations in August 2024.
