Alaska Airlines is a major U.S. airline that began in 1932 as McGee Airways in Anchorage, Alaska. It officially adopted the name Alaska Airlines in 1944 and has grown from a regional cargo and charter carrier to the fifth-largest airline in the United States. The airline operates primarily from its hubs in Seattle–Tacoma, Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and soon Honolulu, focusing on point-to-point service across North America. The core service of Alaska Airlines is passenger air transportation, complemented by cargo services. The airline has expanded its offerings over the years, including international routes to Mexico and Canada. Alaska Airlines has a rich history of innovation, such as introducing inflight movies in 1957, and continues to connect travelers across the U.S. and beyond.
